Description

Van Window Urethane Installation Kit (Small Windows) – Bonded Window Adhesive & Primer Set

Bonded van windows require more than just adhesive. Proper installation depends on surface preparation, correct curing behavior, and consistent bonding strength between the glass and vehicle body.

This small window installation kit includes the essential materials needed for installing bunk windows and cargo-door-size bonded van windows using automotive glass bonding methods.

Designed For Smaller Van Windows

  • Bunk windows
  • Rear cargo door windows
  • Small quarter windows
  • Compact bonded glass installations

The included materials provide the correct quantity for smaller glass openings without excess.

What’s Included

  • 1 tube of automotive urethane adhesive
  • 1 x 5504G-SA single-use primer

The primer prepares the van wall surface and the urethane creates the structural waterproof bond holding the window in place.

Automotive Glass Bonding Method

Modern van windows are retained by adhesive rather than mechanical pressure. The urethane bead acts as both the mounting structure and the weather seal.

  • Structural glass retention
  • Flexible waterproof seal
  • Body-movement absorption
  • Long-term durability

Automotive urethane is designed to meet vehicle glass retention safety standards and cure into a flexible structural bond.

Why Primer Is Necessary

Vehicle paint and coatings prevent direct adhesion. Primer creates a chemical bonding layer between the metal panel and adhesive.

  • Improves bond strength
  • Speeds curing reliability
  • Reduces installation risk
  • Prevents long-term leaks

Primer acts as the linking layer between substrates and polyurethane adhesive.

Installation Overview

  • Prepare and clean cut opening
  • Apply primer to bonding surface
  • Lay continuous urethane bead
  • Set glass once and tape in place

After placement the window should remain undisturbed while the adhesive cures to full strength.

Why Use A Kit Instead Of Individual Parts

  • Correct material compatibility
  • Proper quantity for small windows
  • Consistent curing performance
  • Simplified installation preparation

Using matched materials removes guesswork and improves installation reliability.

When This Kit Is Appropriate

  • Installing bonded bunk windows
  • Installing cargo door glass
  • Small direct-glazed windows

Larger windows require higher material volume and should use a larger installation kit.

Primer

The polyurethane is as very difficult to get out but worked well. The primer was the worst. The sponge was cheap and fell off immediately with primer going everywhere. There should be a better way to use it.
