VWD fiberglass bump-out extensions add valuable interior room to a Sprinter build while preserving a clean, integrated exterior. Careful dry fitting and secure bonding help create a refined result.
Why clamping helps
Fiberglass has natural flexibility. Padded quick-grip clamps can pull the mounting flange into the vehicle's body contour during dry fitting and bonding. This is a practical, established positioning technique.
Quick clamping reference
- Dry fit and confirm alignment before cutting or bonding.
- Prepare and prime both bonding surfaces per the adhesive manufacturer's instructions.
- Apply a continuous adhesive bead, maintaining the specified bond-line thickness.
- Use six padded interior clamps: two top, two bottom, two rear. Exterior suction clamps can assist toward the front of the van.
- Maintain alignment for the full specified cure period. Then install the window and perform a gentle water test.
